Animal Shamanism
Shamanism is the ancient practice of healing in which the shaman goes into a trance like state and communicates with spirits. The reasons they do this is to get information and knowledge, request healings, and ask for guidance for others and themselves. Whenever I journey for an animal, I like to ask the client what they would like to see or envision as a result of the journey or intention. This helps everyone to set an optimistic frame of mind for positive outcomes. Shamans were the medicine men or healers of tribes who could help facilitate healing for the animals and people of the tribe or community. It is common for the Shaman to merge with power animals or the elements to help with the healing of the animal. I like to say that I use Shamanistic methods. I want to give respect to ancient Shamans, who have trained for lifetimes.
A Shamanic healer may work at a distance or in direct physical contact with the animal. They then inspect the animal for spiritual causes of illness, remove them, and retrieve spiritual power for the animal to help it become whole and healthy again. The relationship of both the person and the animal is usually healed with insight provided by the Spirits.
After some healings, the spirits will usually give advice as to the best way to move forward. I have sometimes heard suggestions for essential oils, gemstones, or herbs which can help the healing process and advice for the caregiver. The Shaman's state of consciousness is typically a trance into non ordinary reality. The Shaman can use rattles or drums to call in the spirits and the drum is called, "the horse that the shaman rides to the other world." While the healings happen in non-ordinary reality, the healing is felt in ordinary reality. There is usually a sense of a lighthearted attitude after a healing. Perhaps it is simply a different perspective or outlook on situations.
The Spirits will know why an animal has an emotional problem; the point of origin of problems and what gifts they need to give to heal the situation. They have the ability to address issues that have unknown origins. Many times Shamans simply send the healing out to others in their environment by healing themselves first. A Shaman sends the love outwards from deep within their heartspace to help heal their communities and households. It is basically a matter of trust and compassion to help heal others. Sometimes shamanistic skills can be so deeply engrained in us that they are simply calling us back thru time and space. The Spirits help us to remember our past lives and our extraordinary loving connections and healings we have done for ourselves and others.
It is vital to let go of one's ego or logic and trust that the Spirits know the perfect gift for one's healing as needed. Ego in any form can be lethal to everyone involved. Just always trust in the healing. Sometimes we can take the energy
around a situation or issue and change the energy to heal. We call in and hold the higher vibration of energy within ourselves. Healing others by healing within ourselves first. Love from divinity or Creator is the strongest energy we can share through our hollow bones. In Shamanism, if you speak from your heart with sincerity and stay open to whatever gifts the Spirits feel would be the best gifts for you; your healing should be exactly what you need at the time.
Trusting and knowing that the Spirits are with us and working with the Spirits; usually changes the way that you walk in the world and how we are received by others. Divine love is the foundation for all healing.
